The event is a joint venture between the Carington Arms/Ashby Folville Estate and a local motorcycle club in Nottingham, who are providing staff, artists, PA and enthusiasm.
2009 was the first year of this event, it was very well recieved and we have been asked to run it again in 2010 by popular demand. The event has room to grow, but we need your support. Give it a go, and be there are the start of something special...
Ashby Folville is on the B674 between Gaddesby and Twyford, and is not far from Melton Mowbray. The first Folkthing was held in great acclaim by those present. The general spirit of the feedback was "perfect, don't change a thing" so we hope to maintain the same great family friendly spirit.
The festival is small due to the limited capacity of the venues, so we have a limit of 300. In 2009 over twenty acts performed over the course of two days, from full groups to solo vocal, via singer/song-writers, a ceilidh band and folk/rock acoustic covers. There was a range of folk and acoustic music from traditional to modern and if you are interested in performing or running a session, please contact the organisers via the email address. Local folk clubs are welcome to join us.
